In honor of Earth Day, I think it would be fun to share some Earth friendly tips on how to better take care of our planet. Here you can listen to my interview with Kat Powers on Palestine’s KYYK radio station where we talk sustainability and what each of us can do at home to help to help heal the Earth. Some of the things we talked about are how the waterways are tied to the oceans and how what we do impacts the rest of the world (one garbage truck full of plastics into the ocean every 60 seconds), how to start the conversations with people in your community about reducing plastic usage and getting more access to recycling and rewarding environmentally responsible companies with our patronage.

Some of the things I am doing personally are refusing plastic straws at restaurant, switching to bar soaps and shampoos, switching to reusable grocery and produce bags, trying to replace plastic products with natural materials, and picking up garbage (we call it MOOP, or matter out of place) on roads, sidewalks and playgrounds with my children. They love to be Eco Superheroes!

What are some of the things you’re doing at home to be Earth positive? Let us know in the comments section.

Celebrate World Oceans Day!

The United Nations recognizes June 8th as International World Oceans Day; a day to celebrate the life-giving beauty and complexity of the world’s ocean, and to draw attention to the challenges that threaten this vital ecosystem.

Earth Day Cleanup – April 22 and Every Day!

Earth Day 2023 is fast approaching, but you still have time to make plans for how you will celebrate and chip in on April 22!

Rewilding Can Help Stop Climate Change

Rewilding, or reintroducing endangered species into their natural environments may be able to help mitigate climate change and improve global ecological resilience. A keystone species is an animal that helps define its ecosystem. When a keystone species from any natural habitat disappears, the entire ecosystem may be markedly different.

Re-Greening the Deserts

Yacouba Sawadogo has been leading the efforts in Burkina Faso to reclaim the encroaching desert as a productive, biodiverse region by using methods such as tree intercropping.
